Dear Priors, Prioresses, and Assistant Priors, Prioresses, and Spiritual Assistants:

Some OSSM communities have read and discussed the two letters sent recently by our Prior General, Fra Angel Ruiz Garnica,OSM. The first letter was about Blessed Joachim of Siena. The second letter was about St. Alexis: One of the Seven. Both of these letters were published in the form of a small booklet. If your OSSM community has not considered either or both of these booklets and you wish to do so, you can purchase copies from the OSSM National Office:
Some OSSM communities have requested guidance regarding future ongoing formation sessions for their monthly gathering. In this section of our website we would like to suggest to you the following material, Open Hearts and Homes, The OSSM Prayerbook and Sent to Serve: "Evangelizing Servants", and more.
We suggest that you bring these recommendations to your Council and review the material and content together and decided how you will proceed. We have attached a copy of each recommended material above. You can make copies as need or, if you need, we can make copies and mail to you. Please advise.
We appreciate any report that you can send to the OSSM National Office, sharing with us the results of your formation sessions: what was learned, planned; did you find these sessions helpful and so forth.
These are suggestions. Each OSSM community is entitled to plan their own ongoing formation sessions. Our interest is that ongoing formation takes place in every OSSM community on a regular monthly basis. We suggest the following structure for your monthly sessions:

30 mins. of Prayer (OSSM Prayerbook, etc.)
60 mins. of Formation (Ongoing or Initial)
30 mins. of Community meeting and...

Your comments and suggestions are always appreciated.
Let us remember always to pray for each other.

Fr. Vidal Martinez,OSM
OSSM National Assistant
